Illegal schools close at onset of KCSE

Ones again its a time of the year when Form 4s in Kenya sit for their KCSE.
But why does the ministry of education wait until this time to close down down schools which have been operating illegally?
Who are they punishing? The school administrators or the students and parents who have spent their time and money in preparation for this exams?
There is more to this than catches the eye!!
And Pro. Sitoti should clean up his ministry.

Lena Moi

It's interesting how someone can spend twenty years of his life, running away from the other, and then wish to be with her in death. It is true that absence makes the heart grow founder, As for Moi and his estranged wife Lena, now deceased, it will be a cold reunion. Lena, the first lady that never was, has worn the hearts of many with her humble lifestyle. Very unlike the many first ladies I know of. Not that that's how it should be.

Talk of forgotten heroes, Lena was. Very many Kenyans have expressed their admiration and respect for the way she lived, after separating from her husband 20 years ago. It is a quality that is so unique in the human nature A quality that many secretly long for but cannot cope with due to the pressure of life. Even Moi himself had a lot of admiration for her but presidential pride could not allow him to stoop low and admit that he had the best wife that life could offer. Otherwise he wouldn't want to bury her in his homestead and book his place right next to her when his time comes.

This remind me of a posting early this year about Lucy Kibaki and how the press was trying to blow things out of proportion for her action.

I need to pull up with updating this page now that the summer classes are gone. It has been a crazy month for me. I have been blaming my friends for not warning me in advance,  as if I would have listened if they did.

Kenyan Blogs

It's a warm feeling to be away from home and realize that I can still qualify for some things by simply being a Kenyan. When I read through this I thought of the past one year and the many "citizens only" that have stopped me from dreaming beyond.

The way I am talking about it, one would think that it is some kind of coveted job appointment.
No, Simply an invitation to participate in blogging as a Kenyan and for Kenya.

I can run but never get away especially from my blog. I have been very busy trying to do a research online , for data on online learning. After searching and almost giving up, guess where I start seeing some light. In a blog ofcourse. Blogging is really getting very wide.

Camp fires, In Minnesota, I have had to cook my meat till it is ready over the open fire as I enjoy its warmth out in the open. Many times I roast a sugary white spongy stuff which more often than not, catches fire and lives me with a black biscuit sandwich in the name of mash mellow.

This is also where I have learnt that the Northerners have a different accent from the southerners and the mid US. Interesting, my ears and brain have never decoded that. I have always assumed just like it is assumed that all Africans have the same accent if not a common language.

Yesterday night as I sat warming my self beside a camp fire (strangely 40ºF mid summer in Minnesota) my mind raced back to Africa at the many evenings, under the moonlight, we would sing and dance round fires, or just tell stories of our oral literature to one another. This brings a nostalgic feeling that I lack words to describe, and I wonder just how first these beautiful cultures are eroding as people grapple with the pressures of cities and modern life.

Just as I prepared to update my postings I have had to do something that is unheard of back home. Going down the tunnels in an evacuation for a tornado drill. You can imagine the kind of conversations that came out of that when all the people from different offices gathered together, in the "save dear life" mock act. Very interesting.
